Our Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga

Leave the hustle and bustle of Fez behind as you head to the small town of Merzouga at 8 am. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and its beautiful cedar forests, populated with wild apes, the macaques. Middle Atlas range stretches 450 km from the southeast to the northeast of Morocco.
Along the way, you will admire the cedar forests until the city of Ifrane, located at a height of 1,700 meters above sea level. This city is also known as the "Little Switzerland" of Morocco, for its architecture and for being one of the most exclusive ski resorts in the country. Azrou is a charming city in the heart of the Atlas.
Cross high Atlas range and drive by the Ziz Valley and the dramatic gorges and pass through villages like Midelt and Erfoud, From there, take a 30 km drive until you reach Merzouga. Here, you will spend the first night in a hotel on the edge of the endless desert of sand dunes Erg Chebbi.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert area

On the second day of the excursion, you will visit the most spectacular part of the Sahara desert. Board a 4x4 and visit nomadic settlements, several impressive oases and explore the beautiful golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Next, visit the small town of Khamlia, where the Gnawa live. The Gnawa population is a descendant of slaves from Central Africa and is famous throughout the world for its beautiful folk music that combines classical Islamic Sufism and its traditions.
At night, you will go on the camel ride, which will take you to the heart of the dunes to spend a night in Berber nomadic tents.

Day 3: Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

Wake up in the early morning and sit on top of sand dunes to witness an impressive sunrise. Then, hop on a camel and return to the small town of Merzouga, where you will have breakfast and take a refreshing shower (depending on the type of camp, your breakfast and shower may be before the camel ride).
On the way back to Fez, you will stop in Rissani the downtown of Tafilalet. This last city has a fascinating past, as it was the home of the Alaouit dynasty. In the Cedar forest, you will stop to feed the wild macaques that live there.
